The Uyuni salt flats, the largest on earth, are what remained when a chain of prehistoric lakes dried up. In the rainy season a thin sheet of water turns the whole expanse into a mirror, and the sky and the ground become one. In the dry months it hardens into endless white hexagons. Either way, Uyuni is one of those places that rearranges what you thought a landscape could look like.
